Running
Events:
Orcas Island 50k and the 50 mile distance in Washington at White River
Bio:

In the summer of 2003 I was introduced to trail running. A friend of mine took me around Lynn Loop and it felt like being a kid again. I entered a race that fall and had shocking results. Either the field had shrunk or I had a hidden talent for picking my way through roots, mud, ups and downs. I was loving North Vancouver running and in 2005 the inevitable happened, I registered and raced the Knee Knacker, from Horseshoe Bay to Deep Cove following Baden Powell. I had no idea what to expect and ran 6:13. I was 25th and very proud...and tired. Since then I've been back four times and challenged various other events including Trans Rockies, a six day stage run of 160 km in Colorado, and a 50 miler in Squamish.

WHAT'S YOUR DAY JOB?

Full time Grade 5 school teacher.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOAL EVENTS FOR 2012?

Orcas Island 50km, Whitewater, Washington 50 miler.

WHY ARE YOU TRAINING WITH MARX CONDITIONING?

As a full time grade five teacher and father, it can be challenging to find the time to train and play, but I've never been more serious about training and improving myself as a runner and athlete.  Being busy just means I have to be extremely effective with the time I have to run and ride. Monika's committed to my whole program including running, cycling for cross training, and strength training, and I love it. She's more like a coach. Primarily though, she's excited about my improvement and in me reaching my goals.
